John Martin
Math Teacher
John Martin was born in Austin,
Texas and was raised from the age of 5 in Phoenix, Arizona.
His positive experiences being active in sports and school throughout his time
in Phoenix led John to his completion of his BA
in Secondary Education and MA in Mathematics from Arizona State
University.
During his college career he gained experience in the college residential setting as a resident assistant and gained a wealth of experiences as the assistant camp director for an extreme sports camp in California for several summers. Before his arrival to Crested Butte Academy, John was coordinating the ASU tutoring program full time and worked to expand the tutoring program to support one of the largest undergraduate student bodies in the nation.
John is currently thriving in Crested Butte contributing his wide range of expertise to the academy and enjoying the Crested Butte lifestyle. In the classroom John's passion for math and creative use of technology in the classroom makes his teaching style relevant and energetic. Outside of the classroom John frequently enjoys mountain biking, skateboarding, running, soccer, snowboarding, and staying involved in the community.
